There’s a new blog* I encourage you to read, called Submitted to a Candid World. Let me tell you why.
Prior to this blog, my ‘net obsession was an amazing website called Conservapedia. I’m not going to try and cover every nuance of the site, as many others have already done the job. My own experience can be summed up like so: I found the site when it first made “headlines”, hung around for awhile, contributed a little bit, went dormant, contributed a LOT, got mouthy, got marginalized. Mostly I’m gone from there now, although I admit that I can’t completely stay away.
See, I actually consider myself a moderate with conservative tendencies. Note that I think the Libertarians are doing a far better job of being conservative than the Republicans are these days, and the Democrats feed my “moderate” side better, but that’s neither here nor there. I identified with Conservapedia’s stated mission, and thought I’d help out. It saddens me that the site is what it is, and makes it .01% more likely (they don’t get a lot of readers, you see) that I’ll have a hard time “justifying” my conservative leanings to my friends.
Anyway, I have a serious beef with the idiocy at Conservapedia, but I’m really not dying to spend a lot of time on it with my blog. I gotta ak-sen….chu-8 the positive, after all. So instead, I encourage you to read Ames’s blog. It looks like he’ll he covering more than just Conservapedia, which is good for everyone’s mental health, and he’s a fine writer with some interesting things to say. So, geek out here, and get your law on with Ames.
* - his “new blog” is older than mine by several months, but what the hell…
